I had a highly enjoyable evening recently talking to the Eyam Garden Society about Foraging and Edible plants. They were enthusiastic about trying the wild garlic leaves and gorse flowers which I brought along, although some did comment that they rather affected the taste of the tea and biscuits afterwards! I’m not entirely sure I managed to convince everyone that the properties and contributions of humble moss are so great that it should never be uprooted from people’s gardens again, but at least I tried. As always I reminded folks of the importance of correct identification and how a snowdrop can be transformed into a poisonous spring onion lookalike in one easy step. It was definitely one of those “hashtag Ilovemyjob” moments and I look forward to being invited back soon!
